When we nudge neighborliness,
we nurture belonging and community.

To reduce off-topic comments and behaviors between students, give them an outlet for healthier ways to connect with each other! Consider establishing a daily or weekly routine to:

  • Closing class with verbal peer-to-peer appreciations ("Thank You")

AND/OR

  • Scheduling time to write positive notes and time to review and read them publicly

PRO TIPS:

  • Make it public, if students give consent per each note

  • Model it yourself, make examples from a few students, or have pre-filled options

  • Pre-fill notes with each name of a student to ensure inclusion
