To reduce off-topic comments and behaviors between students, give them an outlet for healthier ways to connect with each other! Consider establishing a daily or weekly routine to:
Closing class with verbal peer-to-peer appreciations ("Thank You")
AND/OR
Scheduling time to write positive notes and time to review and read them publicly
PRO TIPS:
Make it public, if students give consent per each note
Model it yourself, make examples from a few students, or have pre-filled options
Pre-fill notes with each name of a student to ensure inclusion
